T-Shirt Design Contest!

Do you like sharing your creativity for others to enjoy? Want to be part of making PASA look good? Show us your skills and submit a T-Shirt design to PASA!  

Must include one of the following:
•“CSUF  Pilipino American Student Association”
•“CSUF PASA Kaibigan”
•“Cal State Fullerton PASA Kaibigan”
 
Rules:
- No profanity!
- Limited colors! (The more colors, the more expensive the shirt!)
- Must be a paid PASA member to submit a design
 
All submissions are DUE to secretary@csufpasa.com in pdf format by Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 11:59pm
(We will call to a vote by the members once all submissions are turned in)

How to wash your PCN Costumes!

A message from you PCN Dance Coordinator, Mara Pangan:

HI PCN CAST! I can’t say enough how proud I am of every single one of you!  We pulled off not just one but two amazing shows and I couldn’t be any happier. Now in regards to your costumes, we need to take proper care for it for future PCNs. Below are procedures on HOW TO WASH YOUR COSTUMES. :] I’ve also listed everything that should be included when you return your costumes to me this WEDNESDAY — APRIL 13, 2010 or WEDNESDAY, — APRIL 20, 2010!

MARIA CLARA SUITE:

  • *LAWISWIS KAWAYAN*:  
    • GIRLS: HABANERA DRESS, 1 GREEN DRESS, 1 MAROON DRESS, SKIRTS, FLOWER
    • GUYS: BARONG
  • *JOTA QUIRINO*:
    • GIRLS: HABANERA DRESS, 1 GREEN DRESS, 1 MAROON DRESS, SKIRTS, FLOWER
    • GUYS: BARONG, HATS

*THE MARIA CLARA DRESSES: Delicate machine wash, warm/cold, DO NOT USE BLEACH. (You may throw it in the dryer over low heat.)

*APRON/SKIRT:  HAND WASH. HANG DRY. (just soak it in laundry soap water,rinse then hang dry) * DO NOT WRING*

*BARONG: soak in warm soap water, HAND WASH. HANG DRY. *DO NOT WRING!!

RURAL SUITE:

  • *PASIGUIN*
    • GIRLS – KIMONA, SKIRTS, BANDANAS
    • GUYS  - CAMISO DE CHINO

*SKIRTS: machine wash cold. DO NOT WASH THE SKIRT AND THE KIMONA TOGETHER.

*KIMONA: delicate wash. (if your kimona has beads on it.please hand wash it.)

*CAMISO DE CHINO: machine wash cold.  DO NOT BLEACH!

  • *TINIKLING*
    • GIRLS – DRESS, APRON, BANDANA,HEADBAND

*DRESS: HAND WASH with cold water. DO NOT WRING. lay flat to dry.

CORDILLERA SUITE:

  • MANMANOK
    • GIRLS: SKIRT, 4 BRACELETS, 2 NECKLACES
    • GUYS: BAHAG, ARM BANDS, HEADBANDS, FEATHERS, BLANKETS

*BAHAG: HAND WASH. DO NOT BLEACH. HANG DRY.

*SKIRTS: Machine wash cold.  Okay to use dryer.

TRIBAL SUITE:

  • KINUGSIK-KUGSIK
    • GIRL: SKIRT, VESTS, ROPES.
    • GUYS: VESTS, ROPES, HEADWRAPS

*DELICATE WASH FOR BOTH, OKAY TO USE DRYER.

  • SUGOD-UNO (BAGOBO RICE CYCLE)
    • GIRLS: BROWN SKIRTS, BLUE TOPS, BELLS, MALONG, RICE CARRIER (HATS)
    • GUYS: BELLS, HEAD WRAP
    • *GIRLS – IF YOU HAVE A RED TOP, PLEASE GIVE THEM BACK TO ME ASAP.
    • *GUYS – IF YOU HAVE A YELLOW OR STRIPED TOP, PLEASE GIVE THEM BACK TO ME ASAP.  THESE COSTUMES ARE NOT OURS AND MUST BE RETURNED IMMEDIATELY!

*BROWN SKIRTS and BLUE TOPS for GIRLS: Machine wash cold.  HANG DRY ONLY.

MORO SUITE:

  • Sugod-Uno – 7-8:00pm (Captains: Walter, Camille, Marc, Robby)
    • Also known as the “Bagobo Rice Cycle”, this dance is from the Bagobo tribe that depicts their cycle of clearing the fields, tilling the ground, planting the rice, and celebrating a successful harvest in the end.

  • Pasiguin 8-9:00pm (Captains: Chloe, Renel)
    • A dance originating from Capiz, dancers depict fishermen as they try to catch fish.  The men attempt to catch the women with their nets but the women keep getting away through a rip in the net.

Tuesday

  • Manmanok – 7-8:00pm (Captains: Mara, Nap)
    • Manmanok is a dance from the Cordillera suite that shows roosters dancing and trying to win the attention of a hen.  The males are dressed in bahags while they carry around a tribal blanket that they flap and present to the choosing female
    • REVIEW FOR GIRL AUDITIONS.

Wednesday

  • Kinugsik-Kugsik – 6-7:00pm (Captains: Mara, Marc)
    • Kinugsik-Kugisk is performed by two males and one female who depict the squirrels that the Manobo tribe would see in the forest.  This dance shows a love triange between the two male squirrels and a female squirrel through their quick and agile movements.
    • TWO MALE AND ONE FEMALE SOLO!
  • Lawiswis Kawayan – 7-8:00pm (Captains: Ian, Cherry, Marc)
    • This dance is a bright and colorful Maria Clara dance performed with woman carrying bouquets of flowers as they dance to the popular Waray song Lawiswis Kawayan.
    • ALREADY CASTED.
  • Tinikling Practice – 8:30-12:00 am (Captains: Ian, Keisha, Jason, Celine)
    • ALREADY CASTED.

Thursday

  • Pansak Ngeddek – 4-5:30pm (Captains: Robby, Miko, Cherry)
    • Pansak Ngeddek is a dance performed by the Yakans to demonstrate the planting traditions through their arm movements and footwork.  Females perform this feat on top of seven plates while males dance on top of small footstools.
  • Sugod-Uno – 5-6:00pm (Captains: Walter, Camille, Marc, Robby)
  • Manmanok – 7-8:00pm (Captains: Nap and Mara)
    • AUDITIONS FOR GIRL SOLOS!
  • Jota Quirino Practice – 7-8:00pm (Captains: Ian, Renel, Stephanie)
    • A dance originating from the province of Quirino, this Maria Clara dance is performed with unstrung castanets and a combination of Spanish influenced steps and local Illocano moves

  • Pasiguin 8-9:00pm (Captains: Chloe, Renel)
  • Tinikling – 9-12:00 am
    • The national dance of the Philippines, this dance is performed with the rhythmic tapping of bamboo sticks that represent the bamboo traps that rice farmers set for the “tikling” birds.

HI EVERYBODY!!! PCN SEASON IS DEFINITELY ON A GO!  If you would like to get involved -which I invite you to definitely do ;) – PCN dance workshops are beginning next week!  There are plenty of things to do with PCN and the cultural dances are just a part of it!  All workshops/practices will be held UNDER THE BRIDGE (UB), behind the bookstore.

Monday

Alright mentors and mentees, your day is finally here as Ate-Kuya-Ading Revealing will take place THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6th, 2010!

KUYA: Big Brother Ate: Big Sister Ading: Little sibling

So get ready to gain that big brother, big sister, or little one that you never had!

The Ate Kuya Ading Program is a mentorship program where our Acadmic Chair
pairs up newer members with older member to show them the ropes of college.
Along with an older brother or sister, you will also be placed into one of PASA’s
many “families” such as Siopao, Hustler, Tubig, Qtpa2t, Bootay, and Whore.

Thank you for those of you that were able to turn in your applications. We have received more than 100 applicants this semester and are nothing but THRILLED to reveal you guys this week!

Have class, work, or any other obligations that won’t let you attend the revealing?

Ever wanted that big brother or big sister you never had? Are you a new college student
who wants someone to “show them the ropes”? Well here’s how, Ate Kuya Ading
Program sets you up with an older member, usually the same major and that person will
be able to help you with whatever you may need.
